Tuna steaks with red onion
Fresh tuna steaks are healthy and full of flavour and go beautifully with red onion and red wine!
Serves: 2
What you need:
- 2 x 170g (6oz) tuna steaks
- 4 x 15ml spoon (4 tablespoons) oil
- 2 medium red onions, sliced into rings
- 2 x 15ml spoon (2 tablespoons) brown sugar
- 2 x 15ml spoon (2 tablespoons) red wine vinegar
- 150ml (5 fl oz) red wine
What you do:
- Heat 2 x 15ml spoon (2 tablespoons) of the oil in a saucepan. Add the onion and sprinkle over the sugar. Stir well.
- Add the vinegar and wine. Bring to the boil; simmer gently until all the liquid is absorbed.
- Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil in a griddle pan or frying pan. Cook the tuna steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Serve the tuna topped with the onion, accompanied by creamy mash and mangetout peas.
