Saffron poached pears with chocolate sauce
A stunning, yet simple recipe to wow guests at Christmas or any time you want to entertain
- Preparation: 45 mins

- Serves: 4
What you need:
- 1 x 125g pot Alpro soya chocolate dessert
- 4 small pears
- 5 slices of ginger
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 piece of lemon rind
- Pinch of saffron
- 70g caster sugar
- 300ml water
- 8 small amaretti biscuits
What you do:
- In a large pan, place the lemon, ginger, saffron, cinnamon, sugar and water.
- Peel the pears and add to the pan, bring to the boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer and put the lid on. Poach for 30 mins.
- Serve the pears with a dash of the poaching juice and the chocolate soya dessert on the side. Finish with 2 amaretto biscuits for dipping.
